Computer Science
My name is Richard Mosha Jr, and I currently am entering my second year at the University of Missouri – Columbia. I am studying at the College of Engineering, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, a minor in Information Technology and Mathematics, as well as a certification in Cybersecurity. I currently hold a position as the Director of Public Relations for Mizzou Catholic, and will use this position to further my communication skills.
I am a goal oriented college student seeking to gain experience in the Computer Science field. I am an excellent communicator and collaborator eager to learn on the job and adapt to any scenario. I strive to constantly learn more about the Computer Science field as time goes on, never wishing to stop progressing my knowledge.
One of my biggest skills is my communication. I pride myself on being someone who excels in all forms of communication, whether it be casual, formal, or virtual.
I was a member of the Speech and Debate team in my high school for three years. Within this time I improved my public speaking abilities by doing both performances and informative speaking. In my senior year I managed to win first in my conference in storytelling, win first in the state at DUO Interpretation, and place top 30 in the nation in DUO Interpretation.
During my senior year of high school I was the Student Council President. My communication between faculty, my peers, and outside organizations played a major role in the success our student council achieved. I was able to introduce two new spirit weeks, collaborated with a neighboring high school to raise $4,900 for Special Olympics, and helped lead two separate blood drives in collaboration with Red Cross.
This year I was elected to become the Director of Public Relations for Mizzou Catholic. This position focuses heavily on communication, specifically with those who are not within the organization. Informing others about events, relaying information to other organizations, and directing the public appearance of the Mizzou Catholic organization are all key attributes of this position. I plan to use my communication abilities to raise the overall attendance of each event, grow the follower count of Mizzou Catholic, and be the voice of the organization.

Here are some of the more personal and interesting things about me that give more insight into who I am.
One of my biggest hobbies unrelated to my field is photography. I love taking pictures, whether it be people or landscapes. I even have my own website where I upload these photos: rfmphotography.pixieset.com
Cooking with my mom is one of the first memories I have, and since then I have always loved to experiment in the kitchen. Cooking for others is one of my favorite things to do, as I love to make others feel happy and full.
Music is one of the many ways I connected with my dad. When I was little my dad taught me how to DJ, and ever since I was a baby I loved dancing. Listening to music is one of my favorite past times. No matter the genre, music has a way of delivering messages and stories that touches my heart strings.
During my senior year of high school I was blessed with the opportunity to perform undergraduate research and be mentored by professors from the University of Missouri – Columbia.
Using the research performed by a previous student, I researched and performed MD analysis of the interactions between the molecules cucurbituril, beta-cyclodextrin, and octinoxate. The main goal of this research was to attempt to find a molecule that could encapsulate and strengthen octinoxate, a chemical ingredient found in sunscreen that when broken down and released can damage the skin and coral reefs.
Although the results of my research were inconclusive, I was granted the opportunity to present my research at the American Chemical Society Spring Meeting in 2025.
